  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried mint

For the Vegetables:

  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 1 cup lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 tomato (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup red cabbage (shredded)

For the Wrap:

  • 4 Turkish lavash or pita bread
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted, for toasting)

Instructions:

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

1.     In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, paprika, cumin, black pepper, red chili flakes, cinnamon, salt, minced garlic, and tomato paste.

2.     Add the chicken strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated.

3.     Cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight for better flavor).

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

1.     Heat a grill pan or a non-stick skillet over medium heat.

2.     Add a little olive oil and cook the marinated chicken for 5-7 minutes per side, until golden brown and fully cooked.

3.     Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3: Prepare the Sauce

1.     In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and dried mint.

2.     Stir well until smooth and set aside.

Step 4: Assemble the Rolls

1.     Place a piece of lavash or pita bread on a clean surface.

2.     Spread a generous amount of the prepared sauce over the bread.

3.     Layer shredded lettuce, sliced onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red cabbage.

4.     Add the grilled chicken pieces on top.

5.     Drizzle a little extra sauce for added flavor.

6.     Roll the bread tightly, securing the filling inside.

Step 5: Toast the Wrap

1.     Heat a pan over medium heat and brush it with melted butter.

2.     Place the chicken roll seam-side down and toast for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

3.     Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute before slicing.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy!

  • Slice the rolls diagonally and serve with extra yogurt sauce or a side of fresh salad.
  • Pair with a refreshing Turkish Ayran (yogurt drink) for an authentic experience.

Pro Tips:

  • Marination Time: The longer you marinate, the more flavorful the chicken will be. If possible, marinate overnight.
  • Flatbread Choice: Use Turkish lavash for an authentic taste, but pita or tortilla works too.
  • Serving Suggestion: Serve with pickled vegetables or fries for a delicious meal.
  • Spice Adjustment: Adjust spices to your preference; add more chili flakes for extra heat.
