For Chicken Marinade:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken breast or thigh, cut into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For Coating:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

For Breading:

  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups bread crumbs (panko or regular)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

For Frying:

  • Vegetable oil, for deep frying

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

1.     In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, paprika, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes.

2.     Add the chicken strips and drizzle with olive oil.

3.     Mix well, ensuring each piece is well coated with the marinade.

4.     Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors soak in.

Step 2: Prepare the Coating and Breading Stations

1.     In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

2.     In another bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.

3.     In a third dish, mix bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese.

Step 3: Coat the Chicken

1.     Take the marinated chicken strips and coat them with the seasoned flour mixture.

2.     Dip each piece into the beaten eggs.

3.     Roll the chicken in the bread crumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure an even coating.

Step 4: Fry the Chicken Sticks

1.     Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat.

2.     Once the oil is hot (around 350°F or 175°C), add a few chicken sticks at a time, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.

3.     Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per batch.

4.     Remove the chicken sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the crispy chicken sticks hot with your favorite dipping sauces, such as honey mustard, garlic mayo, or spicy ketchup. Pair them with a fresh salad or coleslaw for a complete meal.

Tips and Variations

1.     Baking Option: For a healthier version, bake the chicken sticks at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.

2.     Spicy Kick: Add cayenne pepper to the marinade or chili powder to the breading.

3.     Cheesy Twist: Incorporate mozzarella cheese sticks inside the chicken for a gooey center.

4.     Asian Style: Use teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds for a flavor twist.

Storing and Reheating

Store any leftover chicken sticks in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to retain crispiness.
